Infidelity In Marriage: The Ride of Their Life

Here's to hoping this latest incident doesn't strain the relationship between the two countries. News agencies and wire services around the world are reporting that the British Ambassador to Kuwait has been relieved of his post after it was discovered that he had an affair with a married woman working at the embassy he was assigned to. Reports also confirm that she is very much pregnant with his child.

It's not shocking news to a society that is becoming more and more acclimated to marital infidelity but still you cannot help but shake your head in amazement wondering why someone would jeopardize their career and own family life to carry on an extramarital affair. As a certain golfer could have told the British Ambassador it is not worth it.

But obviously that is not the case. There is something which occurs that makes a cheating spouse throw all caution to the wind. Maybe they have not thought the consequences through to the fullest or maybe they have. In any event the overwhelming desire to be with the other person proves too powerful to ignore. So they go for it.

Here are a couple of reasons why:

1. Ego Trip

Someone attractive finds them attractive. That's all they need. Or they see someone and their pride tells them in no uncertain terms to go for it. So they do without any serious hesitation.

2. Don't Touch

Something or someone that is supposedly off limits can make you desire it even more. It may be that the cheating spouse is not really attracted to the person but the fact they belong to someone else makes the conquest that much more thrilling.

3. Run and Hide

Yes they have the ego and the love of chasing the forbidden but for some cheating spouses it can't compare to rush of sneaking around. Almost getting caught but not quite in many ways for them is more thrilling than the actual cheating itself.
