Fathers And Daughters

My daughter had her 17th birthday several days ago and low and behold! HE called her. Her father actually made the attempt to call her and once again, he told her that he would be over to see her in 30 minutes, and he showed up, for real! I decided to run a few errands before he came because I wanted it to be HER moment, hopefully give them a chance to talk. She called to tell me that he even gave her $30. Wow! I am stunned that he came over! I am also happy for her, because she's been wanting for him to come over when he says he is. I think that perhaps he's feeling a little guilty for not showing up all those past times when he told her he was. He and I had a conversation a couple of weeks ago and he let me know that he is having some health issues, and it's not good, so maybe he is trying to get back some father/daughter time that he has missed all these years. Why did he let all those years go? He has missed out on some wonderful times of her growing up. Do you suppose that he is going to start coming over on a more regular basis now to see her? I hope so.

All Of Her Tears Came Tumblin Down

As you know, my youngest daughter is now a teen. She is old enough to understand what is happening and she also has had to endure the fact that her dad no longer comes to see her. She has finally grasped the fact of who he is and is accepting that he just doesn't have time for her. She's smart and well-rounded, does great in school and is working her way towards going to college to be an equine vet. She's starting to drive a little now--heck she's just growing up so quickly. My ex called me and finally admitted to me the truth of him and the other woman as I stated in mylast post. This past Christmas, he told our daughter that he was alone during Christmas and that he had not gotten any gifts, making her feel really bad for him. I told her back at that time that he just wasn't being honest with her and for what reason was unknown to me....maybe he wanted us to feel sorry for him, but let's not forget that I know this man so well. She happened to run into him at the store last week and he was not his normal VERY skinny self. She told me how he had this belly on him and he was not skinny like he used to be. Again, I told her that he was not alone like he has been telling us all this time and that he must be eating good and how his lady must be cooking alot of good food. Today when she came home, I had to tell her about her father moving because he will no longer be as close to us anymore. He won't be far, but just not close as he was. Down came the tears. She was so upset about him moving away, even though he has not come to see her. I told her that she needed to be happy for him because he wasn't alone like she thought he was. She finally got over it and now she knows that he is not just sitting alone in the house by himself. I am relieved that he has come across with some truth in his life.

Holidays and Divorce

How do you deal with the holidays that come around ever so quickly when you are divorced or even separated from your ex? I guess it all depends on how much you think about things. I spent a very nice day during Valentines Day, maybe because he never made too much "ado" about that holiday anyways. He did come over, finally, to see our daughter and gave her some chocolate strawberries and a little bit of money. I just so happened to be gone when he came, but she was so excited that her dad FINALLY came to see her. I hope that the talk that we had last week helped him to understand more about his need to come and see her. How did you spend your Valentines Day yesterday?

He Won't Come See His Daughter........Why?

Is it any wonder that because our daughter is out of sight, she's out of his mind too? That isn't fair. We both had this wonderful child together and he should be trying to be more a part of her life. Yes, you are probably wondering why I am so stressed out about his part of the deal, however, you wouldn't understand unless you had a daughter who sometimes broke into gigantic crocodile tears over not hearing from her own father. She is torn up over the fact that he just doesn't have time for her.....no visits, no phone calls, only when a blue moon comes around. Not only am I the one who has to hear her crying, but I have to try and make things better. I hurt for my child, because it's not her fault. She hasn't done anything to deserve this from him. Why can't he see this? Why does this man have to keep on hurting us so badly? Yes, we are apart, and we will never be back together and we have done alot to make a new life, but shouldn't he have some part in her life as well? Maybe he just has his brain on the other woman. Who knows? I think that I am just worrying too much about this, but I really hurt inside when my daughter misses her dad and he doesn't do anything about it.
